Social Pulse

How much attention a ticker is drawing right now, measured against its own normal.

Posts in #social-pulse — and on demand in #trading-floor

What it is

Social Pulse scores how much retail chatter a ticker is attracting, against that ticker's own baseline rather than the market's. A quiet small-cap suddenly lighting up registers; a name that is always busy does not trip the same wire for being busy. It posts when the reading breaks out of a ticker's normal range, and attaches to the Ticker Intelligence card the rest of the time.

Attention metric — not a trade signal.

What each part shows

The noise score and band
A 0–100 reading of current chatter against that ticker's own normal, banded so you do not have to remember what 39 means: QUIET below 20, NORMAL to 40, ELEVATED to 60, HIGH to 80, EXTREME above that.
Why posted
The reason this reading was worth a message — a velocity spike, an acceleration, a band change. The card never appears without saying what tripped it.
Confidence
High, medium or low, on the sample behind the reading. A low-confidence score is pulled back toward baseline and labelled, so thin data never arrives looking like a strong signal.
Trend and velocity
Which way the chatter is moving and how fast, as a multiple of that ticker's normal rate. 6.93× normal is the pace, not the volume.
Windows
The same multiple over five, fifteen and sixty minutes. Reading them together tells you the shape: 6.93× on five minutes against 0.84× on the hour is something that started in the last few minutes.
Platforms
Each source scored on its own, so you can see where the chatter actually is. Several platforms active at once is marked as cross-platform confirmation; one venue alone is not.
Primary source and participants
Where the chatter is coming from, and how many distinct people are behind it. Twenty-six participants and four hundred posts is a different thing from four hundred people.
Sentiment
The bullish, bearish and neutral split of the chatter. It is the tone of what is being said, not a view on the stock.
Scanner ↔ social
Which came first — the market activity or the chatter — and by how long. Scanner activity ahead of the social surge reads differently from chatter ahead of any print.
The timestamp
When the snapshot was taken. Readings are labelled fresh, aging or historical, so an old one is never presented as current.

Pulling it up yourself

The card arrives on its own while a ticker is active. To ask for one at any point, type either of these in #trading-floor. They are typed as plain messages, not slash commands.

  • pulse list Every ticker being watched, ordered by noise score.
  • pulse <ticker> A live read on one ticker, on demand.

What it is for

  • It tells you whether a move already has a crowd. A breakout nobody is talking about and a breakout everyone is talking about are different situations.
  • It is scaled per ticker, so a quiet name waking up registers instead of being drowned out by whatever mega-cap is trending that day.
  • The order matters. Knowing the scanner fired before the chatter — or after it — tells you what kind of move you are looking at.
  • It shows its own weakness. Participants, confidence and cross-platform state are on the card, so you can see when a surge is twenty-six people on one venue.
