Log that you opened a position, at your own price.

Syntax

in <symbol> <price>

Angle brackets mark a required value, square brackets an optional one. This one is typed as a plain message in #trading-floor — there is no leading slash and Discord will not autocomplete it.

What it is for

A trade journal you keep by typing one line. TickerRoom is not connected to a broker and places no orders — the price is the one you type, and the bot only records it. Logging the same ticker again averages it in rather than opening a second position.

Parameters

Name Required What it does
symbol Yes The ticker you took a position in. Any US-listed symbol
price Yes The price you entered at. A number

What comes back

A one-line confirmation — the position opening, or the new average and the number of adds if you were already in.

in GRML 14

Position Opened Example

GRML @ $14 · Hking

in GRML 13, on the same ticker

Averaged In Example

GRML +$13 → avg $13.5 (2 adds) · Hking

Rebuilt in TickerRoom's own components from past output, to show the format. Illustrative, not live market data.
